The PIN in Pincode stands for Postal Index Number. It is also known as the zip code or area postal code, and it is the post office numbering code system used by the postal services of India. The PIN was introduced in India on 15 August 1972 and it is 6 digits long, with each of the digits denoting a certain area. 1. The first digit of the PIN code indicates the region
North: 1,2
West: 3,4
South: 5,6
East: 7,8
Army: 9
2. The second digit in the PIN code indicates the state sub-region
In this case, Telangana.
3. There are 9 PIN zones that cover the Indian states and union territories
4. The third digit in the PIN code indicates the sorting district within the region
In this case, it is Hyderabad.
5. The last three digits are assigned to individual post offices
In this case, it is the KPHB colony post office.
